About All CS2 Skins
What CS2 skins are
A skin is a cosmetic finish applied to a weapon — it changes how the gun looks without touching how it plays. Each finish is tied to a specific weapon, so the same pattern can exist on a rifle and read completely differently on a pistol. Skins are what make an inventory personal.
Weapons and categories
Finishes span every weapon class — rifles, pistols, SMGs, shotguns, snipers and heavies, plus knives and gloves as their own prized categories. Popular platforms like the AK-47, M4 and AWP carry the deepest skin libraries. Knives and gloves sit at the top of most wishlists.
Wear and float
Every skin exists across wear levels, from Factory New down to Battle-Scarred, driven by a hidden float value. Lower wear generally means a cleaner surface and a higher price, though some patterns look striking even when heavily worn. The wear you pick is the biggest single lever on cost.
Rarity tiers
Skins are graded by rarity, climbing from consumer and industrial grades up through classified, covert and the special knife and glove tier. Rarer grades are pulled less often and tend to anchor higher prices. Rarity sets a rough floor, but demand for a specific look often matters more.
StatTrak and Souvenir
Many skins come in a StatTrak variant that counts your kills, and event drops can appear as Souvenir versions carrying tournament stickers. Both are separate, scarcer variants of the base finish and usually trade at a premium. Each skin page shows which variants exist and their prices.
Where skins come from
Skins drop from weapon cases, collections and operation rewards, each tied to an update, map or event. Once a case or collection is retired, its skins are limited to what already exists in circulation. That scarcity is a big part of why certain finishes climb in value over time.
Buying and selling
You can chase a finish from its case, trade for the exact wear you want, or simply buy it outright at the price you see. Most traders skip the gamble and grab the skin directly. Spare or duplicate skins can be cashed out instantly on Skins.Cash — open any page to see its live price.
