The Most Expensive CS:GO Skins on Steam Market
The value of skins is as subtle as the skins themselves. You can’t touch them to feel their quality. You can’t get any advantages from them in your game – there are no such plusses, only visual effects. Still, skins cost real money. Some of them can be sold for thousands of dollars, others have prices of just a few cents. How to understand such weird pricing?
Let’s have a look at the list of the most expensive CS:GO skins on Steam Market to see patterns… and just to wonder how much we can earn selling a particular image for virtual weapons.
Please keep in mind that the prices in this list have been taken from the everchanging Steam Market, so they may have fallen or risen by the time you read this article. We took the lowest prices of Field-Tested items.
Of course, it’s not so easy to find a buyer, and you can’t withdraw money from Steam – so it is much better to sell CS:GO skins instantly on Skins.Cash.
1. AWP | Dragon Lore – $1555
A powerful dragon breathes fire as if pushing out bullets from the barrel of this sniper rifle. Graceful patterns on the handle and geometrical figures on the optical sight support the general impression of a fantasy weapon.
The Dragon Lore style of AWP is the most expensive CS:GO skin ever sold – in January 2018 it was sold for $61,052.63. Of course, it wasn’t a usual Dragon Lore, but a souvenir one with a unique set of stickers: PGL, G2 Esports, Cloud9, and Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham, who was MVP at the Boston Major 2018 and played for Cloud9, the winner of the tournament. This skin is one of a kind, there are no more of its type.
“Normal” skins AWP Dragon Lore are super rare too. Players have very, very small chances to get them after game matches or from cases (in fact, it’s almost impossibly lucky).
2. M4A4 | Howl – $1079
This skin makes an impression of holding a furious beast in your hands. It is hard to stop its angriness. It shoots deadly bullets at its enemies, clearing a way to success.
The Howl skin of M4A4 is absolutely unique! You can’t just obtain it from cases and from the random drop at the end of matchmaking – Valve has removed Howl due to some copyright issues but kept the existing skins. We can obtain an M4A4 Howl only through trading. What a nice way to increase rarity and value! Even if it wasn’t an intentional one.
3. AWP | Medusa – $862
This weapon style seems to be full of cold killing energy. Your sniper rifle will be as dangerous as a look at a Medusa Gorgon.
The difference with the mythological character is that AWP Medusa can kill an opponent even if he doesn’t see it, nicely hidden.
4. Karambit | Case Hardened – $258
This knife is very similar to a tiger claw in its shape and blade… it looks so solid, so strong, like no one can break it, like no one can stand its hits. Do we get some of that strength to our playing style, while using a Case Hardened Karambit in CS:GO?
5. AK-47 | Fire Serpent – $197
A dragon-like green serpent is painted on the body of one of the most powerful automatic rifles. It seems like the beast is trying to break out from the small surface of the AK-47, creating the killing energy of the weapon.
One variation of Fire Serpent is on the list of top expensive CS:GO skins – Factory New Fire Serpent, StatTrak from Operation Bravo costs $3,200.
6. M9 Bayonet | Crimson Web – $193
This bloody red knife enters the flesh of virtual opponents like a long and sharp canine of a wild beast. Such design may make players feel stronger and more dangerous. And still, this M9 Bayonet is so graceful – thanks to its light lines, similar to a thin web, covering the whole blade.
Getting a knife skin in CS:GO? What a lucky guy you would be with this! They are so rare, they are so precious… When you have a cool knife, you may take it in your virtual hands for quicker running, and you will see how your character plays with it, admiring its powerful beauty.
Getting Crimson Web skins for an M9 Bayonet – have you ever seen such a guy?
In April of 2014, an M9 Bayonet Crimson Web was sold for $23,850. It is not the most expensive skin in CS:GO nowadays, but the price is still impressive.
7. AK-47 | The Empress – $63
A face of a beautiful lady is on the body of this dangerous weapon. She is not helpless at all – huge power is hidden behind her, because she is an Empress! The blaze of glory around her just proves her powers. And maybe yours, when you battle with The Empress AK-47.
8. P90 | Emerald Dragon – $28
It’s another variation of a dragon design. A long green fantasy creature is tangled all over the big weapon body. Maybe it waits for an enemy to appear nearby, it is ready to catch opponents in its deadly rings, in fatal streams of bullets.
9. AK-47 | Case Hardened – $28
This is a nice automatic rifle for terrorists with its strengthened body. Just the efficient weapon for murdering those imprudent counter-terrorists that try to thwart your mission. It seems like a Case Hardened may suit perfectly well for purposeful players – it’s a beautiful thing but without excessive design features.
10. Five-SeveN | Hyper Beast – $15
This pistol is fast and quite powerful, and this skin for Five-SeveN is just an amazing piece of art – so colorful, so expressive. It even looks a bit aggressive, showing immense power inside of its small metal body. Can you handle that Hyper Beast?
This skin is not less beautiful, but it may be gotten in the game more often – that’s why its price is not so high.
Beauty vs Rarity
So, there obviously are two factors which create value for CS:GO skins: beauty and rarity. The first one is quite subjective, but still, many gamers have similar views on the beauty of virtual weapons. Rarity is a totally controllable factor. For some skins Valve allows only a limited quantity, decreasing their dropping chances. Other skins are highly unique, and this makes them the most valuable in players’ inventories.
Using beautiful skins is a nice way to show your gaming style on multiplayer servers. Really valuable, unique skins are usually not for the game – they are collectible things, like great paintings, to keep and watch their price increasing with time.
