Location Guide: Finding Benryn and Mirileth’s Dowry
After you’ve successfully rescued Benryn, it’s time to find his wife, Mirileth. Tragically, she can be found dead on the second floor of the tavern. Here’s the step-by-step guide on how to find Benryn and Mirileth’s Dowry in Baldur’s Gate 3:
- Cast the Speak with the Dead spell on Mirileth. This spell can also be cast for free using the Amulet of Lost Voices.
- Once the spell is used, ask her, “Did you have any valuables nearby?” Her response will lead you to the barn.
- Head northwest of the tavern into the barn. Use the coordinates X:101 Y:627 to find your way.
- In the barn, interact with a haystack which hides a gilded chest with the dowry ring inside. It’s advisable to use a character with the highest Perception stat in your party, as some characters may not be able to find the chest in the haystack.
- After finding the dowry, speak with Benryn and inform him of his wife’s demise. During his mourning, he will reveal the purpose of the dowry - a ring intended for Mirileth’s sister’s wedding.
The Decision: To Keep or Return the Dowry
Now that you’ve found the dowry, you’re faced with a choice - to keep the ring or return it to Benryn. If you choose to keep the ring, you can sell it for a bit of gold. However, returning it allows you to complete the quest, even though it doesn’t grant you a reward.
Effects on Gameplay
The decision you make concerning the dowry doesn’t have a significant impact on the gameplay or story progression. However, if you choose not to return the ring, the quest will remain in your journal, which could be irritating to some players. Considering the ring’s worth is quite small, it’s recommended to return it to Benryn.
